2020 Mosquito Control Program by DNREC

At their February 10, 2020 meeting, Mayor & City Council voted to participate in the 2020 Mosquito Control Program through the State of Delaware Department of Natural Resources & Environmental Control (DNREC) Division of Fish & Wildlife, Mosquito Control Section.

Starting in early April through early November, DNREC will use their usual range of statewide efforts to control these pests.  This includes the aerial spraying or ground applied insecticide to kill mature and immature mosquitoes.

Aerial applications are done by aircraft or by helicopter. Ground application might be done by truck-mounts sprayers (aka- foggers), backpack sprayers or hand tosses.

The City of Lewes DOES NOT notify resident when spraying is scheduled by DNREC.  If you wish to receive notification of when spraying will occur in the Lewes area you can go to the DNREC Website to sign up.
