The Lewes Police Department is co-located with the City Administrative Offices and the Lewes Board of Public Works within the Lewes City Hall Building, and can be accessed to the rear of City Hall off of Franklin Avenue. The department consists of a police chief,  thirteen full-time officers and an administrative assistant.

Within the Department, there are several specialized units such as Criminal Investigation, Bicycle Patrol (seasonal), Beach Patrol (life guards) Meter Police, and a Canine Unit. Together, the members of the department provide high quality, professional community oriented police services to our citizens.
If you have an emergency that requires an immediate response, DIAL 9-1-1 to report the emergency to the Sussex County Emergency Dispatch Center so that the appropriate assistance can be made available as quickly as possible.
If you have a police issue that is not an emergency, but requires you to speak to an officer, please contact our department at 645-6264 during normal business hours or email the department at the addresses provided above.
