DelDOT Public Workshop for Savannah Road Sidewalk Improvements and Georgetown to Lewes Pathway, Phase II

The Department of Transportation (DelDOT) invites the Public to attend a Public Workshop for Savannah Road Sidewalk Improvements and Georgetown to Lewes Pathway, Phase II.  The Public Workshop will be held from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Thursday, August 17 at the Cape Henlopen High School Cafeteria/Atrium located at 1250 Kings Highway in Lewes, Delaware 19958.

DelDOT representatives will be in attendance to discuss and receive input from the public. DelDOT welcomes your input and encourages you to identify and discuss project related issues throughout the design process.

Savannah Road pedestrian study is part of the Bicycle and Pedestrian Feasibility Study that reviews non-vehicular facilities throughout Delaware to determine opportunities for improvement. This study corridor is along Savannah Road from Quaker Road east to the railroad crossing and is approximately 3700’ in length. At the railroad crossing,  the sidewalk would tie into the Georgetown to Lewes Trail. The proposed sidewalk will pass Cape Henlopen High School and connect into the existing pedestrian facilities.

Georgetown to Lewes Trail Pathway, Phase II is a project that proposes to extend the Georgetown to Lewes Pathway from Savannah Road west heading under the Nassau Bridge and terminating at Minos Conway Road along the railroad corridor. The hot-mix trail will be 10’ wide and approximately 3.2 miles in length. Construction is scheduled for fall 2018.

This location is accessible to persons having disabilities. Any person having special needs or requiring special aid, such as an interpreter for the hearing impaired, is requested to contact DelDOT by phone or mail one week in advance.
