City of Lewes 2019 TULIP DIG

Free tulip bulbs, dig them up and take them home
Lewes, DE – The City of Lewes in partnership with Lewes In Bloom will have the annual tulip dig on Friday April 26th from 8:00 a.m. until all gone with a rain date of  Monday April 29th.  We please ask that no one digs up the bulbs prior to the 26th at 8:00 a.m. so that everyone have a chance to get some tulips. The public is invited to bring their shovels, spades, trowels, and bags to assist the city and Lewes In Bloom with removing the tulip bulbs and giving them a new home.  Close to 20,000 tulip bulbs were planted by Lewes In Bloom for the 10th Annual Tulip Celebration.  Tulips go fast so ensure you are at a site by 8:00 a.m., it is first come first dig.
The following areas are included in the tulip dig:
            1812 Park
            Citizens Bank on Second Street
            City Hall
Gateway Garden (Island between Freeman Highway)
            New Lewes Library

Otis Smith Park (aka Rotary Pavilion)
            Post Office
            Stango Park
            St. Peters Church barrels

The public is reminded that only the areas listed above are included in the tulip dig. Digging cannot occur before 8:00 a.m. or in areas not listed.  Each dig location will be supervised by a Lewes In Bloom member or Parks & Recreation commissioner.  Do not remove any other plants or flowers besides tulips.
