10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
Session Title: Native trees and their benefits.
Presenter: Eric Wahl of Element Design Group, and President of Delaware Native Plant Society
  • A talk about the benefits of using native woody trees and shrubs in your home landscape.
  • A brief discussion on some of our favorite species.
  • How to evaluate your property, and choose the right plant for the right spot.
11:15 a.m. to 12:15 a.m.
Session Title: Plant health care, insect disease issues and soil nutrition
Presenter: Mark Shaw, Board Certified Arborist of Bartlett Tree Experts
  • Mark will cover current issues affecting or coming to our area including boxwood blight, emerald ash borer, spotted lantern fly, Laurel wilt diseases, and Prunicola Scale. He will also review proper planting, pruning and maintenance for your trees and be able to answer any of your questions or issue you might have in your yard.

Session Title: Horticulture Therapy- As Simple As A Walk In The Park
Presenter: Kathy Andrzejewski with Nature Connectz
The focus of this session is to create an awareness and understanding of the basics of horticulture therapy. Participants will be informed about the basics of horticulture therapy, the impact of horticulture therapy on health and well-being and how they can easily add horticulture therapy components to their life style. In addition to learning about horticulture therapy, participants will also create a simple horticulture project to take with them.
