West Cedar St. Flood Mitigation Planning Study
The City of Lewes was awarded a grant to study mitigation strategies to address flooding on W. Cedar Ave. The focus of the study is planning. Implementation of any strategies will be done at a later time and utilizing a different funding source.
The City set out a RFP for services to assist with the study. The firm of GMB was selected to assist the City with the grant.
Status
- A kick off meeting between the City and DEMA was held on December 11, 2019. The presentation may be found here.
- Field work began in late Spring with surveying of the properties along W. Cedar St. GMB also began collecting data to assist in determining scenarios and potential strategies to reduce flooding in the area.
- A survey is being created to reach out to the people living in the W. Cedar Ave study area to provide their knowledge of flooding in the area.

Public Workshop 11-17-20
The City held a public workshop on November 17, 2020 to go over the grant and public results of the survey. You can view the presentation on the City's YouTube page. A copy of the presentation will be available shortly.
