[UPDATED] Planned System Wide Power Outages

The Lewes Board of Public Works would like to provide an update regarding the Delmarva Power planned outages that will affect our customers. The outages are needed to relocate the Delmarva Power transmission line(s) on Savannah Road due to the DelDOT Old Orchard Realignment Project.

We were informed on the afternoon of Wednesday, September 6th that Delmarva Power was able to procure a contractor to perform a portion of the work while the lines are still live and in-service or otherwise known as a “hot tap”. Delmarva Power stated that performing a portion of the work in this manner will reduce the number of planned outages to the Lewes BPW. The number of outages has been reduced from three (3) to one (1).  This information was confirmed by Delmarva Power at a follow-up meeting on Thursday, September 7th.  Below is the new updated schedule:

Thursday, October 5th, 12am-4am (weather permitting)

Anyone reliant on electrically powered medical devices or any other health, life, or safety equipment in your home or business should ensure backup provisions are made during the outage periods. The BPW plans to have staff monitoring the systems during these events.

The Lewes BPW will continue to update our customers based on the information received from Delmarva Power.  Should you have any questions, please contact the Lewes BPW at 302-645-6228.
